3 Best Vegan Sources Of Protein

 

If you’ve recently adopted a Vegan diet or Vegan protein foods, your main concern is probably about protein. How are you going to get enough protein when so many protein sources are animal products?!  This is all you hear from your friends and family. When you tell them about your new vegan protein diet. and now it’s starting to concern you too. Fortunately for you, it is actually a lot easier than you might think to get enough protein on a Vegan diet. There are plenty of plant-based protein sources, all of which can be cooked and eaten in a variety of ways to make your diet satisfying and packed with protein.

1. Beans, Lentils, and Legumes:

Any type of bean or legume such as black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas, and lentils all contain tons of protein. They are easy to throw into soups, on a salad, and in lots of other dishes. Not to mention they are packed full of fibre and are extremely affordable. The amount of protein differs by bean, but on average black beans, kidney beans, and chickpeas all contain around 15g of protein per cup.

2. Meat Substitutes:

One easy way to get vegan protein foods, and a lot of times feel like you’re still eating meat, is with meat substitutes like tofu and tempeh. You can season them however you’d like, throw them on a grill or frying pan, and you’ve got yourself a tasty protein source!  One-half cup of tofu contains 10g of protein, and 100g of tempeh contains about 18g of protein.

3. Nuts and Seeds:

Nuts and seeds offer a great, protein-rich snack or topping for your salads. Most nuts and seeds are also very high in Omega-3 fatty acids, making them even more beneficial. You can also eat them in the form of nut butter (yum!) for more convenience. The amount of protein varies by the type of nut, but on average most nuts have between 5 and 7g of protein per 1oz serving.

These are just three different ways you can add more protein to your vegan diet.
